A New Depot!

Did you know? After 21 years Pavlovich Coachlines is getting a brand new, purpose built depot!

It will have room for all of our public transport fleet as well as the touring coaches when they are not out on the road showing off NZ – around 100 vehicles in total.

Ground was broken in May 2021 with the current completion date estimated to be around mid-late March 2022.

The building beginning to take shape

By October you could see the building beginning to take shape. The 4 large doorways on the right lead to the future 8 bay workshop. Our workshop team are really looking forward to getting a whole lot more space! They are rather cramped in their current area as the company has grown and expanded over the years – particularly after July 2017 when we doubled our Auckland fleet and took on covering many of the West Auckland public transport runs.
The scaffolding to the left of this photo is where the offices, meeting rooms and other amenities will be built.

Here you can see what will become the interior of the workshop. Our workshop staff play a key role in keeping the wheels of the business turning. They do all routine servicing, any mechanical repairs, organise aircon re-gassing and the fitting and maintenance of electrical systems including the ticket machines, RT radio comms and GPS tracking units. They keep an eye on our tyre treads, hubometers and the purchase of RUC’s and attend any breakdowns roadside. Our panel crew touch up any scrapes here and there and keep the fleet looking sharp.

Just a couple of weeks later, we are now in November and the office area is beginning to take shape. The SMT and some operations and workshop staff were lucky enough to get a sneak peak at the build. Here they are walking in through the main entrance.

Downstairs will be office space for the ever growing public transport division, a staff room and kitchen, as well as restroom facilities and additional storage space.

Upstairs will be office space for the smaller charter division, the accounts team, HR and training. There will be a number of meeting rooms available for use and training spaces for staff professional development.

Another exciting prospect is once completed, the yard will be fully sealed/concreted so there will be no more dust bowls to contend with over Summer or persistent pot holes over Winter!
This is particularly welcome news to the cleaning crew that work tirelessly behind the scenes. In a few months they will have their own designated workspace, complete with an automated bus wash bay, storage and refuelling facilities.

Considerable thought has gone into the design and future proofing of the build – with the purchase and installation of charging ports for a number of EV vehicles as they become more affordable and available in coming years. This depot is built to last, bring on the next 21 years – by which time Pavlovich Coachlines will  be celebrating being in business for over 100 years!

Keep an eye on our Facebook page for regular updates and photos as building progresses!

I'll pass it on, fingers crossed we can have gatherings by then, there will be plenty of space if it needs to be outside anyway!
